Waffles Anyone?Waffle
House is celebrating it's 50th birthday. If you've never paid a visit
to this Southern
icon, you need to. It's one of those places that you have to go at
least once in your lifetime. It's kind of like going to Disneyland, you have to
be able to say that you've been at least once :).
Their namesake waffle is alone worth the visit - I always order my waffle crispy; once you butter and syrup it up, it's just right. Waffle House is celebrating it's 50th birthday.

Their namesake waffle is alone worth the visit - I always order my waffle crispy; once you butter and syrup it up, it's just right. For just under $5 and some change my breakfast choice includes 2 REAL eggs, grits, toast, bacon, and a waffle. And it's served up fast and hot. I tried the "real" Waffle House waffle recipe once from a site that now charges for recipes (and so shall remain nameless). I think I'd rather get the real deal at Waffle House. Here's a recipe when you're in the mood for a leisurely breakfast at home: Belgian Buttermilk Waffles (Makes 3-4 Waffles) 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 egg, separated 1 cup buttermilk 2 tablespoons butter, melted In a medium bowl, whisk flour, salt and baking soda. In a small bowl, whisk egg yolk, buttermilk, and melted butter. In another small bowl, beat egg white until peaks form. Slowly add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients and gently mix. Fold egg whites into batter. Bake in preheated waffle maker for 3-5 minutes or until crisp and brown. Posted: Sat - August 13, 2005 at 10:13 AM |
